There are a couple of new driving laws you are going to want to know about if you are a Californian. They involve cell phone use and are very closely related to the existing laws.
The old laws had a loophole where drivers would hold their cell phone in their hand while driving because they were using their GPS. The old law never stated the phone had to be mounted to the vehicle. The new laws that are now in effect require the phone to be mounted in certain locations, the lower right corner, or the lower left corner, of the windshield or onto the center console. A cell phone may not be attached to the middle of the windshield because it is obstructing clear view. In addition, drivers may use one finger to conduct a single swipe or tap on the screen.
Another new driving-related law more clearly defines the legality of motorcycle lane-splitting in California. The old laws never clearly outlined the rules. Now, motorcycles are not allowed to travel 50-60+ miles per hour through standstill traffic. They must be going slower.
There are a handful of other new driving-related laws, but these are two of the more prominent ones that apply to everyone on the road. The goal is always to keep the roads safe.

Bail bond co-signers have a very important role in the release of a defendant. Their role can often also be mentally stressful.
Co-signers are often needed to secure a bail bond. Without a co-signer on a bail bond, the defendant will remain in jail. When a defendant does get a co-signer on their bail bond, then the co-signer has his or her money, valuables, and other collateral at risk. The co-signer must ensure that the defendant shows up for court because if they do not, the collateral that they pledged can be claimed by the bail bond company.
Naturally, the co-signer has rights as well. Most importantly, he or she can withdraw their signature from the bail bond at any time, without consequence to themselves. Of course, the consequence to the defendant is that they would be taken back into custody until they can get another co-signer.
Get more information on bail bond co-signing and what it takes by contacting LA Bail Bond Store online, or call 877-793-2245 now.

You might have thought the talk of elections and voting had ceased for a while, but January 1, 2017 saw the start of a handful of new voting-related laws in California.
Here they are:
- Californians with low-level felony convictions now have the right to vote. One of the main reasons behind the passing of this new law is the note that many such felons serve their time outside of prison because California prisons are overcrowded.
- Voters can now mail in their ballots at any county elections office in the state of California, not just the county who issued the ballot, making it easier to vote for many people.
- Californians may register to vote on Election Day. Previously, registration would close 2 weeks before Election Day. If registering to vote on the day of the election, the voter has a conditional voter registration, meaning it will first be verified that they are eligible to vote before their vote is officially counted.
- It is no longer illegal to snap a selfie of you and your ballot and then posting it on social media. There was definitely quite a bit of debate on this in the presidential election.
Aside from new voting laws, there are a slew of other new laws in California, including laws regarding guns and employment. Be sure to read up on them, it could help.

We all know that using cell phones while driving is a no-no. It has been illegal for several years now, but since the original bills were put into effect, the intelligence of smartphones has increased. They can access social media, texts, email, video chat, and have better GPS. It is no secret that we rely on our smartphones for practically everything these days, or that we are on our phones all the time. To keep up with smartphones, new laws regarding cell phone use and driving have been put into place this year, which extend on the existing laws.
The new laws are meant to prevent distracted driving and say that the only phone interaction a driver may have is one single swipe or tap. The laws also state that the phones must be properly mounted to the car.
The minimum punishment if caught disobeying laws is a fine. The maximum punishment; accident, injury, or arrest.
If you, or someone you know, are in need of a bail bond after having been arrested for violating any law, contact LA Bail Bond Store online, or at 877-793-2245.

We will not ask what your stance is on guns, gun laws, and gun ownership, but we do ask that you learn about, and comply, with the new gun laws in California.
These laws went into effect January 1, 2017:
Gun Loans
- Loaning guns to others is mostly illegal now, with the exception of hunting purposes, but still require you to follow the rightful, legal steps. Gun owners may also loan their guns to family members, but only for a limited number of loans. Gun loans must be documented and reported properly.
Assault Weapons
The new law says that semi-automatic, centerfire rifles, and semi-automatic pistols that do not have a fixed magazine may not be purchased or sold. This law does not affect gun owners who had previously, legally purchased such weapons before this law was enacted, though they will need to have it registered. This new law essentially fills in a previously existing loophole to another similar law.
You might already know that California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the U.S. and new gun laws continue to pile on to this, but for good reason. The goal to increase safety and proper use.
If you, or someone you know, are arrested for violating any gun laws in California, or for misusing a gun, please contact LA Bail Bond Store if posting bail is an option.
LA Bail Bond Store can be reached online, or at 877-793-2245.

Saving money is an extremely good habit to have. Hopefully those savings will not need to be touched and can be put to things you are actually saving for like buying a home. However, when an emergency calls, you will at least have some money available. Here are some ways to save a little more money that individually are small, but collectively, can sum up to something quite large.
- Dine out at restaurants less and cook dinner at home more. Think about this: a plate of pasta (good for 1 person) at a restaurant can cost $15-$20, average. But cooking a pound of pasta (good to feed 3-4 people) at home can cost you around $10.
- Make grocery lists before going to the store by planning your meals. People who shop without a list tend to make more spontaneous purchases.
- If you do not really watch television, or know that you can catch all your favorites online, cancel your TV service. Sign up for Netflix or Hulu instead.
- Cancel your gym membership and workout at home or outdoors.
- You know how you are already splitting your check into percentages: savings, needs, leisure? Take 1% or 2% more from your leisure and put it towards savings.
There are so many ways, big and small, that can help you save money. Trust us, it is a smart habit and though we hope you will never need it for emergencies, you will be glad it is there in case you do.

Bail bonds are used to release defendants from jail who are accused of all sorts of crimes, such as theft, conspiracy, or domestic violence. You know, typical things that are obviously crimes. However, did you know that in California, a person can still technically be arrested for one of these outlandishly wacky laws?
- Women may not drive in a housecoat.
- No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 mph.
- No bicycle riding in a swimming pool – Baldwin Park.
- No one may wear cowboy boots unless they own 2 cows – Blythe.
- Ice cream may not be eaten while the person is standing on a sidewalk – Carmel.
- A herd of cattle may not be driven down the street – Chico.
- Drinking intoxicated cement is illegal – Indian Wells.
- Toads may not be licked – Los Angeles.
This list goes on and on and on. California has more than its share of weird, wacky laws that have not been taken out of the law books yet. Many are not actually enforced and others seem like no one would actually want to commit them. Nonetheless, they are actual laws in California.
Whether you need a bail bond for a serious arrest, or one of these silly ones, you can rely on Chinatown Bail Bond Store.
We can be reached 24/7 online and at 877-793-2245.
